【童话故事英文版】Once upon a time, in a small village nestled between green hills and quiet rivers, there lived a young girl named Cinderella. She was kind-hearted, gentle, and always smiled even when life was not easy.
Cinderella’s mother had passed away when she was very young, and her father remarried a woman with two daughters who were cruel and unkind. From the moment they entered their lives, Cinderella was treated like a servant. She did all the housework—washing dishes, cleaning the floors, and mending clothes—while her stepmother and stepsisters enjoyed fine meals and pretty dresses.
Despite the hardships, Cinderella never lost her hope or her kindness. She often sat by the window, dreaming of a better life, and sometimes she would talk to the birds that came to visit her.
One day, a grand invitation arrived from the king. He was hosting a royal ball at the palace, and all the young ladies in the kingdom were invited to attend. The stepmother and her daughters were excited, but they quickly realized that Cinderella could not go. "You are too dirty and poor," they said. "You should stay home and do your chores."
But Cinderella was heartbroken. She longed to see the palace and meet the prince. Just as she was about to cry, a mysterious old woman appeared at the door. She was actually a fairy godmother in disguise.
"Come, child," the fairy said. "I will help you."
With a wave of her wand, the fairy turned Cinderella's ragged dress into a beautiful gown and made a pumpkin into a golden carriage. She also gave her a pair of glass slippers and warned her, "You must return before midnight, for the magic will end at that time."
At the ball, Cinderella dazzled everyone with her beauty and grace. The prince was instantly captivated and asked her to dance. They spent the night together, talking and laughing, and when the clock struck twelve, Cinderella hurried away, leaving behind one of her glass slippers.
The prince searched the kingdom for the girl who fit the slipper. When he finally found Cinderella, he knew she was the one he had fallen in love with. They married and lived happily ever after, with Cinderella becoming a queen and bringing joy to the people.
And so, the tale of Cinderella teaches us that even in the darkest times, kindness and hope can lead to a brighter future.
