【关于端午节的英语日记】Today, I wrote an English diary about the Dragon Boat Festival. It was a fun and interesting experience for me because I had to think about how to express traditional Chinese customs in English. At first, I wasn't sure how to describe the festival properly. But after some research, I learned that the Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month every year. It's a time when people eat zongzi, which are sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves.
I also read about the story behind the festival. It's related to Qu Yuan, a famous ancient Chinese poet who loved his country very much. He committed suicide by jumping into a river, and people tried to save him by beating drums and throwing rice into the water to prevent fish from eating his body. That’s why we have dragon boat races and eat zongzi today.
Writing this diary made me feel proud of my culture. I wanted to make sure that my English was clear and easy to understand, so I avoided using complicated words. I also added some personal feelings, like how I felt when I ate zongzi with my family or watched the dragon boat race with my friends.
Overall, writing this English diary helped me learn more about the festival and improve my language skills at the same time. I think it’s a great way to connect tradition with modern communication.
