Mr. Nonexistence, a virtuous man from the countryside, heard that there was an evil creature causing trouble in a nearby village, which caused much distress among the villagers. Despite having no martial arts skills, Mr. Nonexistence had a heart full of compassion and decided to investigate.
On his way, he met an old man who asked him where he was going. Mr. Nonexistence told him. The old man said, "Your journey will be fraught with danger. It's better to return home." Mr. Nonexistence thanked him and replied, "I have made up my mind, and I will do my best despite all difficulties."
After entering the village, he indeed saw strange things happening. At midnight, the wind howled, and everything seemed ominous. Mr. Nonexistence then tried to comfort the villagers and discussed strategies with them. The villagers elected Mr. Nonexistence as their leader to fight against the evil creature.
Mr. Nonexistence brainstormed ideas and devised plans. He ordered people to collect firewood and light bonfires at the entrance of the village to drive away the evil spirits; he also instructed strong men to patrol to prevent any unexpected events. The next morning, they found traces of the evil creature, which turned out to be a wounded bird with colorful feathers and red eyes.
Mr. Nonexistence felt pity for the bird and wanted to save it. He carefully approached and brought the bird back home for treatment. A few days later, the bird recovered and flew away, transforming into an immortal figure who thanked Mr. Nonexistence for saving its life and bestowed upon the villagers a talisman for eternal peace.
From then on, the village was free from evil creatures, and Mr. Nonexistence was revered as a hero. However, he remained humble, continuing to teach and guide his fellow villagers.
